The Jackson Heart Study engages scientists, scholars, students and staff in three specific events designed to promote scientific excellence, rigor, and discourse; the development of ancillary studies and sub-studies; and the publication of scientific findings. These three events are JHS Journal Club/Colloquium, JHS Research Forum and JHS Research.

Jackson Heart Study
Colloquium Purpose:
The JHS Journal Club is a small scholarly gathering of investigators. The purposes of the JHS Journal Club are to provide for investigators at participating institutions opportunities to discuss their research in progress, and research ideas, and to promote and support their scientific publications. The Journal Club format may include lectures, publication reviews and epidemiological study discussion. Public health and health disparities, as well as an interdisciplinary correlation among the areas of pathology, physiology, cardiology, neurology, family and internal medicine are encouraged. Jackson Heart Study Research Forum Purpose:
The JHS Research Forum is an informal monthly meeting where presenters such as Jackson Heart Study scholars can present their research and where JHS staff can present, to the JHS community, presentations they have made or will make at national, international or other off-site conferences. There is an opportunity for discussion and audience participation after each presentation.
