Manuscript Submission Guidelines

Download Signature Sheet for Manuscript Proposals/Manuscripts  updated 09/09/2008

A completed JHS manuscript emanates from an approved manuscript proposal or ancillary study. Manuscript proposal guidelines describe the step-by-step process for JHS investigators and non-JHS investigators
JHS investigators include those who are supported by JHS funding and academic staff from the three partner institutions, the JHS Director’s office, participating NHLBI staff (Field Site and Project Office) and JHS subcontractors or consultants.

A manuscript emanating from an approved manuscript proposal or ancillary study can be submitted in
6 easy steps.

1.     Completed manuscripts should be submitted electronically by the lead author to the P&P Chair Dr. Nimr Fahmy fahmyn@comcast.com and to the Administrative Coordinator, Dr. Brenda Campbell Jenkins brenda.w.campbell@jsums.edu.

2.     The format of the completed manuscript must conform to the anticipated journal or other standard style.

3.     The manuscript title should include the phrase “the Jackson Heart Study” whenever possible.

4.      All manuscripts require acknowledgement of funding sources for the JHS contracts.

5.      A general acknowledgement of the JHS participants and data collection staff should be included whenever possible.

6.     All manuscripts must be accompanied by a 300-500 word summary, including findings, in lay language.
