Research Training Appointments

Research Training Appointments (RTA) are available through the Jackson Heart Study (JHS) to qualified applicants to enhance their career development in epidemiological, biological, or behavioral research of risk factors and causes of cardiovascular diseases in African Americans. The application for the RTA Approval can be submitted at http://jhs.jsums.edu/RTAapp/RTAapp. Please review the RTA Guidelines before submitting the application form and also be sure to make contact with your mentor before completing the application.

The JHS RTA are offered by the JHS collaborating institutions: Jackson State University, Tougaloo College, and the University of Mississippi Medical Center. The program is housed in the Jackson Medical Mall (www.jacksonmedicalmall.org), the site of the JHS (http://jhs.jsums.edu/jhsinfo) located in Jackson, Mississippi. It offers a unique opportunity for academically talented individuals to receive onsite training within a large, longitudinal, epidemiological study of the risk factors and causes of cardiovascular disease in African Americans.
